Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form India’s best-known introductory route for good reason. Together they bring Mughal architecture, imperial avenues, living bazaars, Rajput history and some of the country’s most memorable food into one manageable journey.
A comfortable route
Begin in Delhi with two or three nights. Use one day for Old Delhi and the Mughal story, another for New Delhi’s broad avenues, museums and memorials, and keep an evening free to settle into the city.
Continue to Agra by road or express train. The Taj Mahal is best experienced at first light, when the marble changes with the sky and the grounds are calmer. Agra Fort and a craft or garden visit make the city more than a single monument.
Finish in Jaipur with at least two full days. The Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, observatory, markets and contemporary restaurants show different sides of the Pink City.
How to improve the classic itinerary
- Book a private guide for the Taj Mahal and Amber Fort.
- Keep the longest transfer early in the journey.
- Stay in characterful properties, but prioritise location and comfort.
- Allow time for a food walk or artisan visit.
With the right rhythm, the Golden Triangle becomes more than a first look at India. It becomes a clear introduction to the country’s layers.
